Abstract :
The problem of this research is the low mathematical critical thinking skills of class X SMAN 1 Sentajo Raya Kuantan Singingi. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of students' mathematical critical thinking skills through the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) learning model. This research is a quasi-experimental research (Quasi Experimental Design) with the research design of The nonequivalent Control Group Design using purposive sampling technique. The population in this study were all students of class X IPA at SMAN 1 Sentajo Raya Kuantan Singingi in the 2019/2020 school year. While the samples in this study were students of class X IPA 1 and X IPA 2. The instruments used in this study were the mathematics critical thinking ability test sheet, the observation sheet on the implementation of the learning process, and the learning tools consisting of the syllabus, lesson plans, and participant worksheets. Students (LKPD). The data collection technique used was a test technique in the form of a pretest-posttest test sheet and non-test techniques in the form of an observation sheet on the implementation of the learning process. The data analysis technique used is descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results showed that there were significant differences between the CTL learning model and the conventional model. Based on the results of the study, the authors concluded that there was an increase in the critical thinking skills of class X students of SMAN 1 Sentajo Raya Kuantan Singingi through the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) learning model.
