Abstract :
The mass media has a very significant role in people's lives. This can be seen from the existence of human needs for information or news that has a relationship with something to be achieved or obtained in his life. In addition, the media has a major power in shaping what is known about the world and can also be a major source of ideas and opinions and influence the way of thinking and acting. In the phenomenon of marijuana legality issues that have been campaigned for long by the Indonesian Marijuana Circle, the media acts as an expression of the aspirations of the Marijuana Circle to be conveyed to the public and the government, therefore the analysis of news framing by the mass media is very influential to influence the perspective and understanding of its readers. This research takes a sample of five news published by several national online media portals including, BBCnews.com, Detiknews.com, republika.com, jpnn.com. This research uses Robert N Enmant's media analysis theory which covers two dimensions namely issue selection and highlighting aspects. The results of this study mention the framing of news by online media is still within reasonable limits, because every news published is sourced from statements of relevant parties and in accordance with the reality that occurs in the field. According to researchers, the media are still objective in providing information related to findings in the field of the movement of cannabis legality by the Marijuana Circle and researchers can provide conclusions as mediators relating to the issue of cannabis legality, namely mediating between opinions and understanding of the Marijuana Circle with legal, social and value perspectives moral in Indonesia.
