Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to be able to provide new methods from teachers who previously used ordinary methods which are boring to students, with this research can provide a variety of experiences in learning that are not boring and teachers are more creative and can also improve basic technical skills under passing student.This type of research is a classroom action research (CAR). This research is intended to conduct an action or business research in the learning process of class XI students of SMA N 1 Rambah Hilir in Rokan hulu district which aims to improve the learning outcomes of basic techniques under volleyball passing by using a variation teaching strategy that is embedded in 2 cycles. The subject of this research was carried out in class XI IPA of SMAN 1 Rambah Hilir with a total of 23 students consisting of 4 boys and 19 girls. Research data collection was obtained through a psychomotor practice test that is the bottom passing test in accordance with the terms of the study using variations teaching strategies to improve students' basic learning skills about bottom passing. It is known from the number of students who reached the KKM increased in the first cycle assessment test obtained as many as 10 students (43.47%) completed learning, and 13 students or 56.33% did not complete study. Then the results of the second cycle test showed 17 students (73.91%) had finished learning and 6 students or 26.09% had not finished learning. Based on the average results obtained can be said to be an increase of 30.44%. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that research using variation teaching strategies can improve students' basic passing skills.
