Achievement of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Palembang.
This thesis by English Education Study Program, Sarjana Degree (S1), Faculty of
Teacher Training and Education of Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. Advisor:
(I) Prof. Dr. Indawan Syahri, M.Pd, (II) Indah Windra Dwie Agustiani, S.Pd.,M.Pd.
The objective of writing this thesis was to find out whether or not there was any
significant correlation between English Mastery and Mathematics Achievement. The
population of this investigation was eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah
2 Palembang with total number were 140 students. The sample was two classes, the
total of the sample 60 students taken by using purposive sampling method. The data
was collected through students? report. The data was analyzed by using Pearson
Product Moment correlation coefficient. Based on the data analysis, the value of
correlation between English mastery and Mathematics achievement (r-obtained=
0.605) was higher than r-table (0.211) which were significant at 0.005 level (2-tailed).
It means that there was positive correlation between English mastery and
Mathematics achievement. Since the value of r-obtained was higher than r-table, the
alternative hypotheses (Ha) was accepted and null hypotheses (Ho) was rejected. It
could be concluded that there was significant correlation between English mastery
and Mathematics achievement of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA
Muhammadiyah 2 Palembang.
