Abstract :
Concrete is one of the construction materials for civil works which plays an important role in construction such as buildings, bridges, dams, ports and others. Various studies and experiments in the field of concrete are carried out in an effort to improve the quality of concrete. One way to increase the strength of concrete is to increase its compaction, which is to minimize the pores or cavities that form in the concrete. The use of added materials (admixture) and substitute materials and comparison materials can help solve this problem. In this study, the authors used ceramic waste material as a substitute for sand in concrete. This study aims to determine the effect of using ceramic waste on the achievement of the desired concrete characteristics, namely K-250. After 28 days of age, all samples were tested for the compressive strength of the concrete, and the total number of specimens used in this study were 25 samples with 5 mixed variations. After doing the test, the compressive strength of the concrete with the characteristics of 28 days of age at 9% substitute for sand (ceramic waste) obtained a maximum compressive strength value of 263.48 kg / cm2. The optimum strength increase at the age of 28 days is in the percentage of normal concrete + ceramic waste (sand) 9%, which is 1.22% of normal concrete.
