Abstract :
ABSTRACT This study aimed to assess the quality of students' translations of narrative texts at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Muhammadiyah 1 Sorong City. The researchers utilized a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design to gain a comprehensive understanding of the students' abilities in translating narrative texts. The study involved six 7th-grade students, with data collected from their English assignments. The translations were evaluated based on indicators of accuracy, clarity, and naturalness. The findings revealed that the students' translation abilities varied, with some achieving good levels of proficiency while others had fair or bad levels. The translations generally maintained the overall meaning of the original texts but showed room for improvement in terms of clarity and naturalness. These results were consistent with previous research, highlighting challenges such as vocabulary limitations and sentence completion difficulties. The study emphasizes the importance of developing translation skills for English language learners and suggests areas for improvement in teaching and learning practices.
