Abstract :
In the elderly, a person gradually has a high risk of degenerative diseases, including gout. The role of the family in providing support and the attitude of the elderly is crucial for handling gout and improving the health status of the elderly. This research aimed to determine the relationship between family support and the attitude of the elderly in efforts to treat gout in the Tabongo Health Center Working Area. This research design uses cross- sectional with a sample size of 33 people taken using sampling techniques, namely purposive sampling. The results obtained by the majority of older adults are in the category of good family support, a total of 20 respondents (60.6%), good elderly attitudes, a total of 19 people (57.6%) and good gout handling, a total of 22 people (57.6%). The statistical analysis results using the chi-square method were obtained on the family support variable p value = (0.000). The elderly attitude variable p = (0.002 < = 0.05, which means Ha and shows the relationship between family support and elderly attitudes in dealing with the uric acid disease in the Tabongo Health Center Working Area. The Elderly can prevent gout in various ways, such as avoiding foods high in purines, exercising, drinking water according to daily adequacy, and improving other patterns and lifestyles to improve the quality of life and health status of the elderly for the better.
