Abstract :
Social interaction is a relationship between two or more people in the form of communication or social contact which results in mutual answers. Social interaction will influence the quality of life of the elderly in nursing homes. Quality of life is a perception of the life that is being carried out in accordance with the culture and values of the place where the individual lives and comparing his life with the goals, hopes, standards and objectives that have been set by the individual. The aim of the research is to determine the relationship between social interaction and the quality of life of the elderly. Quantitative research design with a cross sectional approach. The population was 30 respondents or total sampling. The results of the study showed that the social interaction category was poor and the quality of life was obtained by 2 respondents (6.7%) and 2 respondents (6.7%) respectively. Social interaction was sufficient with poor quality of life for 2 respondents (6.7%). There were 24 respondents (80%) in the good category of social interaction with good quality of life with a p value = 0.00 < 0.05. Suggestions as information to nursing home administrators and staff regarding the benefits of social interaction in an effort to improve the quality of life for the elderly.
