Abstract :
This research observes the family values in Byron Howard's film "Encanto" as represented in Mirabel?s self. The method used is qualitative. The technique of collecting data is through the script of the film. The techniques of analyzing are through three steps: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The researcher finds there are eight types of family values exist in the film such as believing and having a commitment:10 data, having the clear values, rules, and belief systems: 2 data, living in purposefully: 6 data, sharing responsibility: 6 data, respecting the personal rights: 8 data, having family rituals and traditions: 4 data, trusting the interests and learning things: 6 data, trusting that together will be success: 4 data, and balancing the dedication in the family: 6 data. The conclusion is the film "Encanto" teaches that the family is a place where we feel accepted as we are and support each other in difficulties and happiness. The suggestions are this research is expected to be as reference to other researchers who are interested in studying and developing the study of family values in literary works such as film.
