Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to find out types of sense relations in William Shakespear?s Poem. The technique of collecting data is through the transcript of poems. The approach used in this research is semantic. This research applied descriptive qualitative method and Miles and Huberman Theory to analyze the words and phrase used by William Shakespeare through data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. The result shows that there are 4 types of sense relations found in this transcript, there are 12 data of synonymy, 6 data of antonymy, 1 data of polysemy and 13 data of hyponymy. This research showed that the types of sense relation that have been used, the most that William Shakespeare?s used in his poems are synonymy and hyponymy. It concludes that, William used words that identic which is synonymy in poems is believed to strengthen the poet?s message and to emphasize it to the readers. Also, the researcher seen that most of William Shakespeare?s poem have connection to each other which have hyponymy relations. The researcher expects this research can be reference to the next researcher who are interesting studying and developing the same research, or other literary works such us prose and film.
