Abstract :
Most cases of hypertension occur in the elderly because the aging process results in changes to the cardiovascular system, resulting in a decrease in the ability of the elderly to fulfill their activities and care independently. Therefore, it is necessary for the family as a source of care for the elderly. The task of the family caring for the elderly in the health sector consists of five. The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between family care tasks and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly in the Telaga Health Center Work Area. Analytical research design with a cross sectional study approach, the elderly population is 74 elderly, the number of samples is 43 people using purposive sampling technique and data analysis using chi-square. The results obtained that respondents whose maintenance tasks were less than the majority experienced hypertension as many as 14 respondents (32.6%), but there was 1 respondent (2.3%) who did not have hypertension and respondents whose maintenance tasks were good the majority did not have hypertension as many as 26 respondents (60 .5%), but there are 2 respondents (4.7%) who have hypertension. The results of the chi-square statistical test obtained a pvalue of 0.000 <0.05). The conclusion is that there is a relationship between family care tasks and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly in the Telaga Health Center Work Area.
