Abstract :
The skripsi entitled "An Analysis Of Illocutionary Act on song lyrics of Maher Zain?s Thank You Allah Album aims to analyze the category and function of illocutionary act on song lyric of Maher Zain?s Thank You Allah Album. In analyzing, the researcher used qualitative descriptive methods. Data collected from album 'Thank You Allah' in the form of clauses, and sentences derived from a single or combination of lyrics. The data is based on the theory of Illocutionary act by Searle (1996) and the function by Leech (1983). In the research, there are four categories of illocutionary act found in song lyrics: assertive, directive, commissive, and expressive. Assertive as the most dominant category of illocutionary act.. In addition, there are four the function of illocutionary act found in song lyrics: Collaborative, Competitive, Convivial, and Conflict. Collaborative as found to be the most dominant functions of illocutionary act. The result of this research is Maherzain predominantly uses assertive categories and collaborative functions to convey his ideas.
