Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the principal?s leadership in improving teacher
discipline at SDN 01 Buntulia, Pohuwato Regency. The method used in this research is qualitative research
with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques in this study are through observation, interviews,
and documentation. The results of the study are that among the five indicators of the role of the principal,
such as indicators of educators, managers, administrators, supervisors, and motivators, the most dominant
indicators are motivators, supervisors, and managers. This is due to the principal?s manager making a
teacher workshop program to improve discipline at school. In the supervisor indicator, the principal
routinely carries out supervision activities, both administrative supervision and the learning process. In
the motivator indicator, the role of the principal more often shows a good attitude, such as setting an
example of leadership through assertiveness with school members and providing motivation and advice to
teachers to implement discipline. Meanwhile, the role of the principal, especially in improving discipline
in SDN 01 Buntulia Pohuwato Regency, has been running effectively. It can be seen from several indicators
implemented in schools, such as Authoritarian and Harsh Discipline, Permissive Discipline, and
Democratic Discipline, which principals, namely Democratic Discipline, most prominently used. In his
role, the principal encourages and nurtures school members, especially teachers, in improving discipline
at school.
