Abstract :
Gout is a degenerative disease that attacks the joints, which is often found in the elderly. The objective of research was to reduce uric acid levels in the elderly. The research design used an equivalent control group design with a quantitative experimental method. The sampling technique is total sampling. The number of samples is 30 elderly. The results showed that before giving soursop leaf decoction water, all the elderly had high uric acid levels as many as 30 elderly, with 15 elderly being the control group and 15 elderly being the intervention group. After giving soursop leaf decoction, all the elderly in the intervention group had normal uric acid levels. Soursop leaf water decoction contains flavonoid compounds where these compounds can prevent the xanthin oxidase enzyme from converting to hypoxanthine and then to xanthine which eventually becomes uric acid. It can be concluded, there is an effect of giving soursop leaf decoction on decreasing uric acid levels in the elderly, obtaining a significant value or p-value of 0.000 <(0.05) meaning that there are differences in uric acid levels before and after in the intervention and control groups in the elderly in Iloheluma Village Kec. Boliyohuto. It is hoped that the community can make this therapy an alternative to lowering uric acid levels.
