Abstract :
This research was to determine the effect of deep breathing relaxation techniques on pain response in first-time mothers at RSIA Sitti Khadidjah, Gorontalo City. This used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach design. The sampling technique was accidental sampling with a total sample of 30 respondents consisting of 15 intervention groups and 15 control groups. Data collection techniques using observation sheets and the Data analysis used the dependent-test. The results showed that the pain scale of respondents in the intervention group was 0.000 <(?) 0.05 while in the control group P=.164 >(?) 0.05. The conclusion is that in the intervention group there was an effect of relaxation techniques on pain response in mothers in the first stage of labour, while in the control group there was no effect of deep breathing relaxation techniques in mothers in the first stage of labor at RSIA Sitti Khadidjah, Gorontalo City. It is hoped that this research suggestion can be used as a technique to reduce pain in labor which can easily be done independently.
