Abstract :
This research aims to determine the skills of beginning reading skills in the lower grades. This research uses qualitative research methods with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation originating from primary data and secondary data. In this research using data analysis techniques through data collection, data analysis, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the Low Grade Beginning Reading Ability in SD Muhammadiyah 1 Limboto Gorontalo Regency included: Ability to recognize letters and sound the letters of the alphabet, Beginning reading with the use of media, and Mastery of vocabulary. It is recommended that students can know in the initial reading.
