Abstract :
Patient safety is a top priority in health services and nursing services as well as the most important aspect of quality management. The Objective of research was to determine the role of nurses in patient safety. The design is descriptive research. The population are 34 nurses who are in the pediatric, surgical and internal rooms. The samples are 34 nurses or total sampling. The results showed the role of nurses in the good category was 31 people, based on the dimensions of the role of care givers, they are 34 people, most of them were good, 31 coordinator dimension was mostly good, and from the collaborator dimension, 31 people were mostly good. On average, 34 nurses carry out six (6) patient safety goals. Therefore it was concluded most of the roles of nurses at Otanaha Hospital were in the good category and carried out six (6) goals of patient safety. Suggestions are expected for nurses to continue to carry out the six (6) goals of patient safety honestly and to improve better service.
