Abstract :
The main focus of implementing educational programs in the teaching and learning process is student learning activities. Sometimes a learning process cannot achieve maximum results due to the absence of students' driving force (motivation). Learning motivation has a significant role in the learning process because motivation can arouse and encourage student?s passion for learning so that learning activities can run smoothly. Motivation consists of two types: intrinsic motivation, namely motivation that arises from within a person, and extrinsic motivation, namely something that is expected to be obtained from outside a person. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Satap Bulango Utara. This study aimed to determine the differences in learning motivation between male and female students. This approach uses a quantitative research design. Data analysis used an independent t-test. Sampling was done with a total sampling technique. The number of samples was 36 students. Based on the results of research on male subjects totalling 19, with an average value of 80.95 and the standard deviation and error mean of this group are 12,145 and 2,786. While on female subjects totalling 17, the average value is 75.88 with a standard deviation and standard error mean of 2,497 and 606. So it can be said that there are differences in learning motivation between male and female students, with male learning motivation higher than female learning motivation.
