Abstract :
NURHAFIZAH HAMKA. Formulasi Dan Evaluasi Sifat Fisik Dari
Sediaan Face Wash Yang Mengandung Ekstrak Air Carthamus tinctorius L.
(Dibimbing oleh Mirawati dan A. Hasrawati).
Bunga Kasumba Turate (Carthamus tinctorius L.) memiliki aktivitas
kestabilannya meliputi uji organoleptik, uji homogenitas, uji pH, uji sineresis,

NURHAFIZAH HAMKA. Formulation and Evaluation of the Physical
Properties of a Face Wash Preparation Containing Aqueous Extract of
Carthamus tinctorius L. (Supervised by Mirawati and A. Hasrawati).
The Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is known for its potent
antioxidant activity, with an IC50 value of 13.4 ± 1.0 ?g GAE/mL, indicating a
very strong capacity, and is rich in polyphenolic and flavonoid compounds.
The objective of this research was to formulate and evaluate the
pharmaceutical stability of a face wash preparation derived from the aqueous
extract of Safflower. The study employed an experimental laboratory design.
Four formulations of the face wash were prepared, each varying in the type
and concentration of the gelling agent used?carbopol and HPMC at
concentrations of 1% and 1.5%. The stability of the resulting face wash
preparations was assessed through a series of tests, including organoleptic,
homogeneity, pH, syneresis, viscosity and flow properties, and overall stability
assessments. The findings indicated that the aqueous extract of Safflower
could be successfully incorporated into a face wash formulation. Among the
evaluated formulations, Formula 4, which utilized HPMC as a gelling agent at
a concentration of 1.5%, demonstrated pharmaceutical stability, fulfilling the
requirements of the physical stability tests.
