Abstract :
RISKA SULASTRI. Minyak zaitun ekstra murni, Pharmacology, Bioactive Compound. ABSTRACT RISK SULASTRI. Literature study: chemical compound content and pharmacological activity of extra virgin olive oil. (Supervised by Rizqi Nur Azizah and Selpida Handayani). Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is a functional food ingredient that contains nutrients, macronutrient and micronutrient compounds that provide specific physiological effects for health. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has approved in 2011 a health claim stating that dietary intake of EVOO containing polyphenolic compounds is able to protect blood lipids from oxidative damage. This research aims to determine the chemical compounds contained in Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and the pharmacological activity they cause. This research was conducted using the narrative review method. Based on the search that had been carried out, a total of 7 journals were reviewed and the results obtained were that the chemical compounds contained in EVOO were Fenol, Hydroxytyrosol, Tyrosol, Elenolic acid derivatives, Elenolic acid, Oleacin, Oleocanthal, Oleuropein aglycone, Secoiridoids derivatives and Lignans. This compound has anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative and antioxidant activity which is capable of providing pharmacological effects in the treatment and prevention of various types of diseases including chronic kidney disease, Alzheimer's disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, primary dysmenorrhea (uterine hypercontraction) and liver cancer. Keywords: Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). Extra virgin olive oil, Pharmacology, Bioactive Compound.
