Abstract :
The writer attended the internship at TIC Denpasar for one month and she had the responsibility to give tourists information regarding the tourism objects in Bali, especially Denpasar. In order to give the information in the most appropriate manner, strategies in using English to serve the foreign tourists must be implemented. The first strategy that the writer conducted was making easy explanation about tourism objects. The writer gives information to foreign tourists with her knowledge in a simpler way as she understood where the locations of the objects are and how to give the easiest direction for tourists to reach them. The second strategy that the writer decided to implement in giving information to foreign tourists using English was listening actively and carefully. The writer starts paying attention carefully to what the tourist is saying, asking another question to the tourist for clarification that the question from the tourist is correctly answered by the writer as the tour guide. The third strategy that the writer implemented was speaking clearly. The observation that the writer made shown her that the senior tour guide always speaks in a clear voice and the interview that the writer conducted also tells her that speaking clearly is one of the strategies necessary to properly give information to foreign tourists in English.
