Abstract :
Prospek Probiotik Multigalur Sebagai Antibakteri Terhadap Extended Spectrum ?-Lactamase Escherichia Coli Literature Review Infections of Escherichia coli producing ESBL are a major healthcare concern. There is increasing evidence that probiotic bacteria can inhibit and/or prevent the growth of E.coli producing ESBL. Multi strain probiotics have wide spectrum of application. However, the certain isolate might cause the loss of viability of other strains and lead to diminished efficacy. Therefore, the cross treak experiment was conducted to determine whether the selected isolates were compatible in vitro. This review studied the evidence that multistrain probiotic could be used as an antibacterial against the E.coli producing ESBL. One of the requirements of the probiotic characteristics is having antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria. We searched the available literature focusing on the role of probiotics on the E.coli producing ESBL and the effectiveness of single strain probiotic compares with a multi strain probiotic in their inhibitory activity against E.coli producing ESBL. The results of the review show that in many cases multi strain probiotic or a mixture species might be more effective and have a wider spectrum than a single strain. Multi strain probiotics have better antibacterial activity compared with probiotic single strain in inhibiting activity against ESBL pathogens.
