Abstract :
Failure to thoroughly hygiene and sanitation in dairy goat farms is a common source of coliform in milk. According to SNI 7388:2009, the maximum limit of coliform contamination in raw milk is 2 x 101 MPN/mL. The research purpose is to determine the number of coliform in raw milk Peranakan Etawa (PE) goat in Gombengsari, Banyuwangi. This research used 33 samples of raw goat milk taken from 11 smallholder dairy goat farms and used Most Probable Number (MPN) test to obtain and count positive coliform contamination. The result showed there were 26 samples in nine farms that exceed the maximum limit of coliform contamination based on SNI 7388:2009. The percentage of raw milk samples that exceed the standard was 79%, while the farm-scale was 81%. The lowest coliform contamination was 1.2 . 101 ± 0.6 . 101 MPN/ml from Farm 9, while the highest was >1600 MPN/ml from Farm 3, Farm 4, Farm 5, Farm 6, and Farm 11.
