Firstly, to identify the management of medicines and medicinal waste. Secondly, to evaluate the impact of providing education and assistance by community pharmacists for increasing knowledge and awareness of residentials. Conclusion Poor drug storage and disposal practice in the household can be improved by providing education and assistance to the community. This might ring an alarm for health professionals particularly the surrounding pharmacists to create an initiative for educating and collecting unused, expired or unwanted medicines from the communities. Pharmacists from the local community pharmacy can be a reference for the residents to obtain information about management of medicines and medicinal waste in the household. The local pharmacy can also play a role in preventing and reducing waste in the pharmaceutical sector with the return unwanted medicines program, resembling similar practice in several other countries. The return unwanted medicines program is a free and safe way for consumers to dispose of unwanted medicines at pharmacies.
