Abstract :
Typhoid fever is an acute systemic disease caused by the bacterium Salmonella enterica serovar typhi. Typhoid fever attacks the small intestine which is characterized by high fever and is followed by bacterial invasion into phagocytic cells. Based on Basic Health Research in 2007, the prevalence of typhoid fever in Indonesia reached 1.7% with the highest prevalence distribution at the age of 5-14 years with a prevalence rate of 1.9%. The diagnosis of typhoid fever can be made by an IgM antibody test. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of anti-Salmonella IgM antibodies in pediatric patients with suspected symptoms of typhoid fever at the General Hospital of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang in 2020. The descriptive study was conducted using a cross sectional method using secondary data collected from the General Hospital of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. during 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented in tabulated form based on the distribution of test scores and gender. Based on data obtained from the General Hospital of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang during 2020, the acquisition of a positive score for anti-Salmonella IgM antibodies was obtained with a male dominance. The prevalence of anti-Salmonella IgM antibodies in pediatric patients with suspected typhoid fever was 11.42%.
