Abstract :
Antibiotics therapy are still the first choice for treating infectious diseases, such as pullorum disease caused by Salmonella pullorum. Inappropriate use of antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance. Sambiloto (Andrographis panniculata Nees.) contains antibacterial compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and andrographolide. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of sambiloto extract (Andrographis panniculata Nees.) against Salmonella pullorum bacteria in vitro with the disk diffusion method. The aims of this research was to know about the antibacterial activity of sambiloto (Andrographis panniculata Nees.) against Salmonella pullorum bacteria in vitro with the disk diffusion method. This research was an experimental study with the four repetitions, and consisted of six treatments with positive control (antibiotic tylosin 2%), negative control (CMC-Na 0,5%) and the concentration of sambiloto extract 5%, 10%, 20% and 40%. The disk diffusion method is used to determine antibacterial activity by the clear zone formed. The results showed that all concentrations of sambiloto extract have a clear zones on Nutrient Agar media. Based on these results it can be concluded that the extract of sambiloto (Andrographis panniculata Nees.) has antibacterial activity against Salmonella pullorum in vitro with the disk diffusion method.
