Abstract :
In Mojokerto, when we observe in the street, we still can see many people get
suffering leprosy with their disable condition. Actually, this disease should not exist
anymore, but the fact is the frequency of this disease increases. And, this won't happen if
the family has an appropriate role to take care the leprosy patients. This is the reason for
the research, to be interested in identifying the knowledge and role in a family and also to
analyze the relation between education and role; also between knowledge and role.
The study design is cross sectional. The samples for this study are the families
who live or stay together with the leprosy patients; in a region of Public Health Service in
Dlanggu. Sampling method is Purposive Sampling. And the total number of respondents
are twenty - eight family. The Independent variable is family's knowledge, Dependent
variable is family 's role in taking care of the leprosy patients. The data are collected by
using questioner sheet and these will be analyzed with Spearman rho's correlation and
the significance is p < 0,05
The study result will show the respondents' knowledge: good ( 25 % ); average
(46,4% ); less (28,6 %). Family's role: good (17, 9 %); average (60,7% ); less (21 ,4
% ). There' s a kind of relation between education and family's role, p = 0,000 and r =
0,8. The relation between knowledge and family's role, p = 0,000 and r = 0,7.
If we see the description above, it shows the relevance between hypothesis and
reality that there is a relation between education and family's role and also between
knowledge _and family's role in taking care for the leprosy patints in the regiopn ofPublic
Health Service in Dlanggu.
