Abstract :
Total phenolics, with various biological activities are considered as a key compounds in Psidium guajava L. The content of total phenolics in alcohol extracts was determined spectrophotometrically according to the folin ciocalteu procedure and calculated as gallic acid equivalents (GAE). Qualitative analysis was conducted/carried out before determining the total phenolics. Qualitative analysis has been done with comparing standard and sample spectra and Rf of reference standard with TLC-Densitometer. Quantitative analysis include validation method (LOD-LOQ; linierity; precision; accuracy) and the content of total phenolics determination by UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. Result of this study include LOD = 0,08 ppm, LOQ = 0,25 ppm; linearity with r = 0.9992, and Vxo = 1,85 %; precision (CV) for 50 %, 70 %, and 96 % alcohol extracts were 1,58 %, 0,54 %, and 2,08 %; accuracy with % recovery for 50 %, 70 %, and 96 % alcohol extract were (101,87 ± 1,02) %, (100,15 ± 1,40) %, (100,29 ± 2,07) %. The content of total phenolics for 50 %, 70 %, and 96 % alcohol extract were 39,02 ± 0,62); (34,14 ± 0,18); (12,59 ± 0,26) milligrams GAE per gram dry material. The resulting data expected will be used to the content of total phenolics determination from phytopharmaca product which are principal component of Psidium guajava L.
