Abstract :
The increasing number of motorized vehicles results in the use of more and more petrol. In line with this, pollution due to motor vehicle fumes also increases. This can have a negative impact on the environment and health, besides that the availability of petroleum as a raw material for making petrol is very limited in nature. One of the reasons The energy source that can be utilized is bioethanol. Bioethanol is really needed to reduce the negative impacts of petroleum. This research aims to determine engine performance and exhaust gas emissions from motorbike engines fueled by a mixture of pertalite and bioethanol from purple sweet potatoes. This research also aims to determine the mixture. the best pertalite with purple sweet potato bioethanol with the composition of pure pertalite without a mixture of bioethanol (EP0%), 10% bioethanol and 90% pertalite (EP10%), 30% bioethanol and 70% pertalite (EP30%), 50% bioethanol and 50% pertalite ( EP50%). This research used an experimental method, where the 2008 Honda Beat 110 CC motorbike was tested using a mixture of pertalite and bioethanol (E0%, E10%, E30% and E50%). Reducing exhaust gas emissions of CO, CO2, HC levels by mixing bioethanol made from purple sweet potato and pertalite gasoline with a composition of 10%, 30% and 50% bioethanol and had very good results. Very good CO, CO2 and HC levels are in bioethanol with a composition of 10% at an engine speed of 3000 rpm which has a CO content of 0.24%, an HC content of 16 ppm and a CO2 content of 3.5%. Analyze exhaust gas emissions by using an exhaust gas emission tool to see CO, CO2 and HC levels.
