Abstract :
The occurrence of siltation caused by river sedimentation becomes a
problem in the Lower River. Impacts and Effects caused by sedimentation will
have an impact on rising water discharge and erosion of river embankments which
will result in flooding in surrounding settlements. When flowing in rivers, most of
the coarse sediment (bed load) and smooth (suspended load) participate in the
flow of the river. So that when the river flow is blocked due to garbage or dirt that
is stuck, the speed of the flow at the bottom of the river will slowly decrease and
the sediment carried by the flow will settle slowly. These sediment deposits will
continue to increase slowly.
Meanwhile, the data or information used are primary and secondary data
obtained from the Jombang Regency Public Works Service and primary data
obtained from field surveys directly in the field. The data processing method uses
manual calculations in accordance with the rational method for calculating
rainfall.
From the results of the survey in the field, the authors analyzed that at the
location of Kayen Village, the need for handling of embankments and sediment
deposits to cope with flooding in the village. From the results of this analysis, it
can be concluded that the Konto River channel has the potential to be unable to
accommodate the consignment of water from upstream and requires handling,
including dredging of sediments as an improvement of the Konto River channel so
that it can accommodate the consignment water.
