Abstract :
In general, clay soils have high plasticity and swellability
relatively high loss. If a civil engineering structure is built on clay then
problems will arise on the land itself, namely the occurrence of settlement and
slides. It is very important to know the land problem,
and make efforts to improve it.
To overcome the poor clay soil, it is necessary to
soil improvement. Soil improvement can be done in two ways, namely:
mechanical method and chemical method. The method of improving clay soil with
The chemical method used is using lime and wood sawdust,
Stabilization with lime can increase the value of soil plasticity and increase
quite real. The use of wood sawdust was chosen as a stabilizing material because
contains fiber, and can fill the pores of clay and
improve the density of the clay. The test aims to
knowing the stability of the soil, and knowing the effect of adding sawdust
on the physical properties of the soil. To find out the plasticity of the soil, it is necessary to do
by using the composition of clay and lime and powder materials
wood saw with mixed composition, 7% (3%sgk+4%lime), 14%
(6% sgk + 8% lime), 21% (9% sgk + 12% lime), 28% (12% sgk + 16% lime) and fermented
for: 7, 14, 21, and 28 days.
In this study, the results of soil changes for the better at
a mixture of clay with lime and wood sawdust with
mix 28% 21 days
