Abstract :
Basically, clay soils have high plasticity properties, relatively high shrinkage swelling power, and low bearing capacity or soil strength. If a civil engineering structure is built on clay soil, there will be problems with the soil itself, namely settlement and sliding. To overcome the bad clay soil, it is necessary to improve the soil. Soil improvement can be done in two ways, namely: mechanical method and chemical method. The method of improving clay soil by chemical means is using lime and wood sawdust. Stabilization with lime can increase the UCS value of the soil and the increase is quite significant. The use of wood sawdust was chosen as a stabilizing material because it has fiber content, and can fill the pores of the clay and improve the density of the clay. Testing the value of the bearing capacity of the soil. (UCS) Unconfined Compression Test Performed by mixing clay and lime and wood sawdust with mixed variations, 7% (3%sgk+4% lime), 14% (6%sgk+8% lime), 21% ( 9% sgk + 12% lime), 28% (12% sgk + 16% lime) and ripened for: 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. From this study it can be concluded that the greater the percentage of lime and bagasse ash mixture that is added, the harder the soil becomes.
