Abstract :
Vegetation on the channel can have negative impacts such as reduced channel capacity and inhibition of flow where high, density, distribution and type of vegetation. The study aimed to determine the value of the friction coefficient in open channels, which are affected as well as those that are not affected by vegetation. The channel roughness coefficient used is the manning roughness coefficient value. The tool used to measure the speed of flow is the currentmeter, with a four-point measurement method. The vegetation studied was 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of channel length. The method that will be carried out in the form of data retrieval directly using a prototype open channel in the form of a trapezoid. From the results of the study with 4 observation points obtained the value V and the value n, for the normal channel the value V = 0.48006 and the value n = 0.02348. As for vegetation channels obtained the following values V and n, vegetation channels 25% value V = 0.38862 and values n = 0.02927, vegetation channels 50 % value V = 0.29718 and values n = 0.03818, vegetation channels 75% value V = 0.22098 and values n = 0.05156 and vegetation channels 100% value V = 0.13716 and value n = 0.09399.
