Abstract :
In general, liquid smoke is a result of distillation or condensation of steam resulting from indirect or direct combustion of materials that contain lots of carbon and other compounds. The raw materials that are widely used to make liquid smoke are coconut shells, coffee shells. The manufacture of liquid smoke using the pyrolysis method, namely decomposition with the help of heat in the absence of oxygen or with a limited amount of oxygen. The smoke resulting from the combustion of the combustion products is condensed with a condenser in the form of a circular coil mounted on the cooling bath. In principle, the condenser design is the same as the heat excharger design.. The condenser used is very simple, namely in the form of a coil dipped in cooling water. This research was conducted with variations in pyrolysis temperature, namely 300oC and 350oC. The biomassa used is coconut shell and garbage. This test is carried out on the yield capacity of liquid smoke and the chemical composition of the resulting liquid smoke. The test results show that at a temperature of 350oC with coconut shell biomass produces an average of 1128.6 ml.
