Abstract :
This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self-concept and stress levels in the daughter-in-law who lives with the in-laws. The research sample is 50 housewives in Sumobito sub-district, Jombang district, aged between 25-50 years who live with in-laws. The sampling technique used purposive random. The data collection tool uses two scales, namely the self-concept scale and the stress scale which have been tested for validity and reliability using the SPSS application. The hypothesis test of this research is using correlation product moment analysis from Karl Pearson . Hypothesis test results obtained correlation coefficient rxy = -0.826 with sig. or p = 0.000 (p < 0.01). This shows that there is a very significant negative correlation between self - concept and consumptive behavior . So the hypothesis is accepted.
