Abstract :
ABSTRACT Ririn S. Adam : Factors Influencing Students' Low Achievement in Speaking subject The study aims to find out the external factors and internal factors, and to decide the dominant factors that influencing students' low achievement in speaking subject. This study used the qualitative method. The data were obtained through the interviews. The findings revealed the external factors such as absenteeism, financial problem, and fall in love problem hampered students in speaking subject. Moreover, the internal factors such as lack of confidence, fear of mistakes, shyness, lack of motivation, and lack of vocabulary hinder students in speaking class. Therefore, the dominant factor was internal. All of students mentioned that lack of vocabulary is their problem in learning speaking. This findings suggests that the lecture should give attention, motivation, and improve students' concentrate when learning speaking. In addition, students need to come in class, spend as much as possible on their study, and more practice to talk English in daily life. Keywords: factor, influencing, achievement, speaking
