Abstract :
This study is aimed to develop the students" worksheet for speaking skill based on constructivism learning theory in SMPN 1 Telaga. The objective of this study are, a) to know what are the students" needs in speaking skill at semester one, seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Telaga, and b) to develop the students" worksheet in speaking skill at semester one, seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Telaga based on constructivism learning stages. The type of this study is Research and Development (R&D) by Borg and Gall (1983). The subjects of the research were 32 students of seventh grade of SMPN 1 Telaga. The instruments of the study were observation, interview, questionnaire and document analysis. The results of the needs analysis" questionnaire were analyzed by using percentage. To validate the appropriateness of the worksheet, there are three kinds of validation. First, the expert judgements validation. Second, the 8 students of seventh grade which validate the used and the readable of the worksheet. Third, the post field testing validation by the 32 students of seventh grade students. The resut of need analysis showed that the students have lack experience in learning speaking. The format type of the worksheet is based on Driver and Oldham"s Constructivism learning stages (1986). The worksheet consist of four units which each units has six tasks which based on the constructivism learning stages. The result of the expert judgement validation towards the worksheet were categorized as excellent. Moreover, the result of the students validation of the used and the readable of the worksheet were categorized as excellent. Furthermore, the result of the field testing validation by the students were categorized as excellent. Thus, it can be concluded that the worksheet is eligible to be applied in the classroom speaking for seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Telaga.
