HESTI MAULIDA. A.1710830. The Insecticide Toxicity of Jeruk Purut (Citrus
hystrix D.C) Leaf Extract with carrier zeolit formula on Sitophilus zeamais
Motschulsky. Supervised by Nur Rochman and Setyono.
The primary pest of corn is Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky. The total damage of
corn seeds caused by S. zeamais can reach 30-100%, so environmentally friendly
controls need to be carried out. S. zeamais controlling can be done by applying
biopesticide. This study aims to determine the ability of jeruk purut leaf extract
with carrier zeolit formula as biopesticide on Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky.
The study was conducted at Entomology Laboratory, Seameo Biotrop in October
2018 to January 2019. A completely randomized design with three replicates in
each rate of jeruk purut leaf extract was used. The concentration of jeruk purut
leaf extract in the preliminary test of pesticide toxicity are 0%, 6%, 9%, 12%,
15% and 18%. The concentration of jeruk purut leaf extract in the main test of
pesticide toxicity are 0%, 2%, 4%, 8%, 10% and 12%. Jeruk purut leaf extract in
24, 48, and 72 hours after treatment (HAT) in the pesticide toxicity test had a
significant effect as biopesticide of S. zeamais. The highest mortality rate
(97,78%) of S. zeamais was found in concentration 12% in 72 HAT. The
concentration of jeruk purut leaf extract in the formulation test of are 0%, 6%,
8%, 10%, 12% dan 14%. Pesticide formulation of jeruk purut leaf extract with
carrier zeolit formula does not have a significant effect as biopesticide of S.
zeamais in 24 HAT and 48 HAT, but it has significant effect as biopesticide in 72
HAT. The highest mortality rate (64,44%) of S. zeamais was found in
concentration 14% in 72 HAT. This study concluded that jeruk purut leaf extract
is more potential as biopesticide of S. zeamais in the single active ingredients
composition than formula.
