RADIH HARYANSYAH. A. 1510129. Risk Analysis of Pummelo Orange
(Citrus maxima (Burm) Merr.) Farming in Bageng Village, Gembong Subdistrict,
Pati District, Central Java. Under the guidance of Wini Nahraeni and Siti
Masithoh.
Pati District is one of the centers for pummelo oranges, the production of
Bageng pummelo oranges has fluctuated and this indicates a production risk. This
study aims to determine and analyze the income, risk sources, and risk level of
pummelo oranges farming. The research was conducted in Bageng Village,
Gembong Subdistrict, Pati District, Central Java. Data collection was carried out
in April-August 2019. The sampling method used simple random sampling of 30
pummelo citrus farmers. The data analysis method uses qualitative analysis
described descriptively and quantitative analysis is used to analyze the income
and risk level of farming. The results of research showed that for 1 ha of land at
the age of 4-20 years, the highest income was IDR 572,966,813, the lowest was
IDR 56,576,354. Sources of production risk with the highest score are pest and
disease attacks, weather and season, total production, drought, and use of
pesticides. Sources of price risk with the highest score are the quality of pummelo
oranges, high yields, low productivity, price fluctuations and production costs.
The level of risk or loss in pummelo oranges farming is obtained by the
coefficient variation (CV) <0.5 and the lower limit (L)> 0. This means that
pummelo oranges farming in Bageng Village is profitable regardless of the level
of risk faced by the farmers. The alternative that can be applied in this research is
that farmers should keep pummelo citrus farming considering the economic value
is very profitable, but there is a need for cooperation with the agricultural
department regarding production risk management and the development of pest?resistant pummelo seeds. The highest risk management is by wrapping pummelo
oranges, spraying vegetable pesticides, and constructing wells or water reservoirs
to avoid drying out.
