Abstract :
Diabetes mellitus is a disease which blood glucose levels in the blood experience hyperglycemia. General management of diabetes mellitus is to use oral diabetes drugs and herbal medicines as an alternative to accelerate the decrease in blood glucose. The Tengger Tribe Probolinggo use Borreria laevis Lamk Griseb as an herbal treatment to decrease blood glucose levels. This study was aimed to determine the potential for antidiabetic activity and the optimal concentratin dose of herbal plants Borreria laevis Lamk Griseb by inducing mice using aloxan at a dose of 168 mg/KgWW intraperitoneally. Mice were divided ito 5 groups, namely negative control (Na-CMC), positive control (Glibenclamide), dose concentration of extract 100 mg/KgWW, 150 mg/KgWW and 200 mg/KgWW. Observations of each group were carried out after 3 days of injection. Based on the ANOVA analysis, decreasing of blood glucose levels after 3 days of treatment were showed that the concentration dose of 100 mg/KgWW, 150 mg/KgWW and 200 mg/KgWW were sgnificantly different between negative and positive controls. The efective dose that can decrease blood glucose levels in mice was at a concentration dose of 200 mg/KgWW with a decrease in blood glucose levels of 181±26,01 mg/dl.
