Abstract :
Soil is used as a base for building, so that contruction secure depens in to soil strenght above them. In this case the soil acts as a weight restrain. Clay soil is type of soil that has carrying capacity in low strenght. So we need research to high up that soil bearing capacity. In this research , author used ash stone to adding with percentage 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%. We put that broken clay soil from Suruh village Trenggalek regency. Base on this study, it may be conclude that clay soil proving object belongs to a category of clay minerals of monmorillonite. We have increased stone ash to optimum 30% with a liquid limit value of 39,00%, plastic limit at 29,00% and 10,00% Index Plastic. In the Direct Shear Strength test of clay soil with the addition of 30% stone ash, get a maximum shear stress increase of 0,486 with the result of a shear angle of 40°, and a cohesion of 0,100 kg/cm².
