Abstract :
Kh. Basuni was the third son of the Modern Cottage founder Al-Rifa'ie. The figure
that is famous for its nature, as well as Selau say in the sidelines of each study together
to always think open, he who is the best education students, who have always become
the most beloved figure and missed his students. With the diversity of students who are
in Pondok Modern Al-Rifa'ie One, and is in the background with the origin of the
students from various regions along with the culture, language, economic level,
knowledge of religion, personality and different cretivities Kh. Basuni Azam has a
separate viewpoint in developing the character education of the students.
From the background, the focus of the problem is about the thought of KH. Basuni
Azam in developing character education in the Modern Pondok Al-Rif'ie One, direction
and strategy KH. Basuni Azam in developing character education in the Pondok
Modern Al-Rifa'ie One, and the orientation of the development of Pondok Modern AlRifa'ie one.
The purpose of this research is to describe the thought of KH. Basuni in developing
character education, direction and objectives of character education development, as
well as orientation of the development of Pondok Modern Al-Rifa'ie one.
Based on the research obtained then it can be known that character education
according to KH. Basuni Azam is the same as the education of Akhlaqul Karimah.
Where the character is a trait that is found in one's self and can be formed and grown
by which the individual lives. So the need for proper components in developing it. As
the direction of development refers to the nature of 1) responsibility, 2) caring, 3)
Independent, 4) creative, 5) Tawadhu ' 6) Qanaah, 7) honest, and 8) trust. Kh. Basuni
Azam uses a strategy of 1) routine activities, 2) of transparency, 3) conditioning, and
organization. Along the time orientation of the development of Pondok Modern AlRifa'ie One, among others 1) the integrity of education, 2) competence of students, 3)
institutional, and 4) facilities.
After the implementation of this research, the important thing as a suggestion is 1)
despite giving freedom in developing the potential of students but the need for intensive
supervision and confidence in the students so that the development of character can be
known in detail and in accordance with expectations. 2) for students, although given
the freedom to develop potential, but not forgetting to always remember the direction
of the teacher or the other person.
