Abstract :
The use of RSEW (Resistance Seam Welding) welding for metal welded joints has been widely used in the manufacturing sector, especially the automotive industry. This study aims to determine the effect of current variations on tensile strength and Macrostructure of RSEW (Resistance Seam Welding) compression welding on SPCC (SteelPlate Cold Rolled Coiled) material, with specimens of length 30 mm, width 5 mm, and material thickness 0.8 mm with current 12 Ampere, 13 Ampere, and 14 Ampere. The process of making tensile test samples using the JIS G 3472 standard with UTM HT-9501 engine. The tensile test results show that the highest tensile strength number is found in RSEW welding results with a current of 13 Ampere of 39.65 MPa and fracture in the weld area, while for tensile strength the lowest current is at 12 Ampere of 28.80 MPa with specimen fracture occurring in the weld metal. In the results of the macro structure, it can be analyzed that due to heat input, the higher the electric current, the wider the diffusion that occurs so that the shear strength of the welded joint decreases.
