THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION TEACHERS IN BUILDING THE FORMATION OF RELIGIOUS CHARACTER TO THE STUDENTS OF SMAIT AL-'ARABI CIKARANG, BEKASI REGENCY Hayati Najib Syam 45 Islamic University, Indonesia Email: hayatinajib83@gmail.com ABSTRACT The background is written due to many of the moral declines caused by the negative impact of globalization. This impact has an effect on the destruction of the religious character of students in Indonesia. Deviant behaviors carried out by teenager seem to be a common thing to hear every day on the news, sometimes even happening around us. Religious character is formed through the process, one of these process can be through with an education. One branch of the field of education is Islamic religious education. Islamic education is one aspect that can towards human to had noble character. So that the skills and roles of Islamic Religious Education Teachers are needed in helping to shape the religious character of the students.This study uses a qualitative approach and the type of descriptive research. Methods of data collection are using the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. Technical analysis of data using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. While checking the validity of the data using triangulation (triangulation of sources and triangulation of techniques). The results of the study indicate that the strategy in shaping religious character is to start from the role of the Islamic religious education teacher itself and with the strategies and methods used so that the formation of religious character can be achieved. Formation of the religious character of students at SMAIT Al-'Arabi has proven to be going as well so that the habits carried out can make students able to do everything without coercion, seen by the presence of student with their awareness of praying five times a day, reading the koran before and after prayer, praying dhuha, morning and evening dhikr and other habits. Althought all parties must continue to synergize and cooperate between teachers, parents and students themselves.
