Abstract :
Energy is an important part of people's lives because almost all human activities always require energy. Most of the energy used in Indonesia in particular still comes from fossil energy in the form of oil and natural gas. Along with the huge potential of the hydroelectric power plant, a lot of research is needed to be able to maximize the above potential. One of them is the establishment of several Micro Hydro Power Plants (PLTMH) in remote areas in Indonesia, especially the Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) which is a small-scale power plant that uses water as its driving force, such as irrigation canals. discharge and rivers or waterfalls by utilizing the height of the falls. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in the diameter of the curved blade on the power and efficiency of an involute vortex flow turbine. The research material used is an involute vortex flow turbine with an impeller diameter of 210 mm, an impeller diameter of 240 mm, and an impeller diameter of 270 mm with a curved blade geometry. The results showed that the impeller diameter 210 reached a maximum effective power of 17.14 w at 3 kg loading and an efficiency of 26.9% then the 240mm diameter impeller has a maximum effective power of 19.7 w at 5 kg loading and an efficiency of 30.92%, then the impeller diameter of 270 mm produces power maximum effective 16.75 w at a loading of 4 kg and an efficiency of 26.29%. In the three variations of the impeller diameter that produces the greatest effective power and efficiency, the impeller diameter is 240 mm with an effective power of 19.7 w and an efficiency of 30.92%.
