Abstract :
This research is a descriptive qualitative research that aims to describe the application of the coaching method in fostering the pedagogic competence of teachers at SMPIT Raudhatul Muttaqin Bekasi. This study uses data collection methods with interview and observation techniques. The data were obtained from interviews with principal, vice principals, vice principals for curriculum and SMPIT Raudhatul Muttaqin teachers. The results of this study explain that the coaching method can be applied in fostering teacher pedagogic competence as a follow-up to the results of the coaching. The purpose of implementing coaching with the coaching method is to improve or improve the pedagogic competence of teachers. The implementation of the coaching method includes steps to build trust, active listening, clarifying, making appropriate questions and providing feedback. The obstacles for the principal of SMPIT Raudhatul Muttaqin in applying the coaching method in coaching include the teachers being fostered not being open to the problems they are experiencing, the skills to ask exploratory questions, managing emotions and certain assumptions when active listening. While the solution to the obstacles faced during the implementation of the coaching method is that if in active listening certain assumptions appear, the principal must immediately realize it and then return to focus on listening to the teacher's story, trying to manage emotions and practice to be able to make meaningful questions. Thus, from the results of the study, it was found that the coaching method applied in teacher competency development is an effective method in finding the potential to improve teacher pedagogic competence and find solutions to teacher pedagogical competence problems.
