Abstract :
This research analyzed the comparative figurative language in folklore entitled Seruntun. The writer obtained data from the Mangkung community. This study aimed to find out the kinds and describing the data of the comparative figurative language employed in folklore Seruntun. This research employed descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data collection technique employed in this research were recording and note-taking. The data analysis was done by transcribing, classifying, triangulation, and find the meaning according to comparative figurative language, and the last step is describing the analysis results of all the data collected. The results showed that in the folklore of Seruntun, 10 kinds of comparative figurative language were found. From the 10 data, the dominant kinds of comparative figurative language are found from the simile data, namely that there are 4 used in Seruntun folklore. Besides that, the most dominant kinds of comparative figurative language are found from personification data, namely that there are 2 used in folklore Seruntun. Then, the non-dominant kinds of comparative figurative language are found from data metaphor, antithesis, pleonasm, and anticipation, namely 1 each used in folklore Seruntun.
