Abstract :
This study aims to analyze the code-switching in the Cewek Smart #2 book written by Ria Fariana. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research method. The researcher took data from the smart girl book #2 in chapters 1 to 6. The data collection was done by reading the smart girl #2 book and finding data, then doing the data collection stage, then sorting the data to be analyzed, and finally collecting data according to classification. of the type of code switching. The techniques used by the researcher include, among others, analyzing the data included in the types of code switching, analyzing the syntactic features of the code switching form and drawing conclusions. The results showed that there were 29 data containing code switching, and of the three types of code switching described by (Poplack, 1980) namely Intrasentential code switching, Intersentential code switching, and tag switching, there were 55% that dominated Intrasentential code switching with 16 data. 24% Intersentential code switching with 7 data, and 21% Tag switching with 6 data. Moreover, there are 11 form of switched segments dominated by the highest use of NP. In addition, there are 21 forms of constraints and switched points and there are 6 dominant forms used in the book of Cewek Smart #2, namely between Adverb and VP, between NP and None (-), between VP and None (-), between Independent Clause and None (-), Between PP and and None (-), Between Conj. and None (-).
