Abstract :
A router is a device used in networks to connect a network with different networks. The router stores the routing table for storage in its memory and creates commands for sending packets. The routing table gets data from routing protocols after using a routing protocol. The routing protocol is a method for selecting the shortest path in sending packets from source to destination. The data packet sent will go through the connected device, the routing protocol itself functions to search for the shortest path from each link passed through the creation of the routing table. ISIS is a routing protocol that uses OSI mode and uses the link state method to collect its paths. In this research, a trial of the ISIS routing was conducted to conduct testing and analysis of the ISIS routing protocol. For determining the best route based on the metrics used on the network. The results of this study are that between ISIS routers share information in order to form a neighboring relationship with the level 1 system routing in the same area or between areas, but when the destination is different outside an area the ISIS router shares information with level 2, namely between areas.
