Abstract :
This study discusses language variation in karang bongkot society focus on users. Aims of this study are to find out the type of language variation features based on gender and the factors that determine language variation based on gender in Karang Bongkot village. This research used theory of language variation by Janet Holmes about language variation features. Data collection instrument of this research are observation, recording, take notes, transcribe, and transcript the data. Based on the analysis. The writer found four types of language variation features based on gender in Karang Bongkot village, there are Gender-exclusive speech differences: highly structured communities, Gender-preferential speech features: social dialect research, Gender and social class and Explanations of women’s linguistic behaviour. There are several factors that affected language variation based on gender : new comer, misunderstanding, family realition, educational background, ages factors and factor of environment.
